Note: all scenarios could be done on-premise or in the cloud
SCENARIO 1: System Conversion, or Brownfield
We convert the existing SAP Business Suite ERP system to SAP S/4HANA. The system is deployed based on your choice: on-premise or in the private cloud environment. Using the System Conversion (Brownfield) migration scenario, you can convert your system to SAP S/4HANA in two steps, activate basic functions and move on to progressive implementation of the rest of SAP S/4HANA innovations.
SCENARIO 2: New implementation, or Greenfield
We perform reengineering and streamline processes. We complete initial data load and delete the old landscape. We deploy SAP S/4HANA in the cloud or on-premise.
Customers choose this option when the scale of changes to standard SAP ERP functionality no longer meets the company’s business development requirements. All their own developments are no longer involved, since it is Greenfield scenario. We use the SAP Activate methodology – using a pre-configured prototype that can speed up the design phase and complete the implementation of your new system in the shortest possible time. This scenario also allows migrating to SAP S/4HANA Cloud.
SCENARIO 3: Selective Data Transition, or Bluefield
Under this approach, you select parts of an existing ERP solution that you want to reuse and those you want to redesign. This is typically done by application area. The benefits of undertaking it are:
a) a reduction of reimplementation efforts by reusing some of the application areas (e.g., logistics) while redesigning others (e.g., finance),
b) a lowering of the risk involved with the big-bang go-live approach,
c) the splitting or merging of existing SAP ERP instances (e.g., carving out specific areas of application or companies and implementing them on a standalone instance or in the cloud),
d) leaving behind chunks of old data (e.g., to shorten the duration of conversions and cutovers).
e) phased go-live (e.g., by business unit or country).
