IBA Group implemented in Nigeria its payment solution tapXphone based on the SoftPOS technology. The solution transforms an ordinary smartphone into a payment terminal. Nigeria, the world’s sixth-most populous country, became the first in Africa to experience the benefits of paying via smartphone.

In the African region, IBA Group collaborates with GigaNet, a company that offers consulting services in finance, analytics, and IT. Aimed at promoting mobile payment technologies, the partnership will contribute to the development of the digital payment ecosystem in the region and to the expansion of access to financial services for Nigerians.

Val Nwabueze, CEO of GigaNetThe strategic partnership between GigaNet and IBA Group provides merchants, banks, and service providers with a convenient and affordable means of receiving contactless payments using various payment methods directly from mobile phones and devices, while also providing enhanced visuals and information necessary for making informed business decisions.

About TapXphone

Built on the SoftPOS technology, tapXphone is a hardware-free digital payment platform that turns any NFC-enabled Android smartphone into a payment terminal. Using tapXphone, it is possible to accept contactless payments by Visa, MasterCard or other payment schemes. The solution is Visa- and MasterCard-certified. Transactions are also secured through certification by the PCI Security Standards Council (PCI SSC), a global forum that brings together payments industry stakeholders to develop and drive adoption of data security standards and resources for safe payments worldwide. In addition, the platform achieved authorization by the Nigerian Inter-Bank Settlement System (NIBSS) for use in Nigeria, ensuring that payments made through the platform are as secure as those made through traditional banking terminals.

TapXphone has eco-friendly design, and provides paperless transactions and energy-efficient processes, promoting responsible business practices and significantly reducing the environmental footprint caused by traditional payment methods.

The introduction of tapXphone brings significant advantages to small and medium-sized enterprises in Nigeria, as they can save on purchasing POS terminals. The initiative promotes equality in access to financial services, diversifies Africa’s business landscape, and empowers small-scale enterprises and individuals by providing a modern and sustainable payment method that meets their unique needs.

IBA Group is in the lookout for more breakthrough projects that transform cities and rural areas into a SMART environment.

In cooperation with RPC, IBA Group implemented in Croatia and Albania RaiPOS, a mobile payment application that uses IBA Group’s tapXphone as the core. Based on the SoftPOS technology, the solution transforms an ordinary smartphone into a payment terminal.

As a result, customers of Raiffeisen Bank in these Balkan countries can easily set up mobile payment acceptance for their businesses. All that is required is a smartphone with the RaiPOS application and an internet connection. End users can easily make payments by tapping their debit or credit cards, smartphones, or NFC-enabled accessories like rings, bracelets, and keychains to an entrepreneur’s smartphone.

The RaiPOS application allows sellers to accept all types of contactless payments, including those that require PIN code authorization. RaiPOS is easy to set up and activate. The payments made through the application are secure and certified by the MasterCard and Visa payment systems.

RaiPOS is ideal for entrepreneurs who are looking for mobility and flexibility. The service is instrumental for small and micro businesses, including retail shops, delivery services, cafes, restaurants, and street vendors.

Launched in 2019, IBA Group’s tapXphone has been constantly evolving and broadening the scope of transactions to include areas that were previously difficult to reach. The solution is already in wide use throughout Europe, Asia, and Africa. It is a hub for processing millions of transactions in various countries, including Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Moldova, Slovakia, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Serbia, Bulgaria, Azerbaijan, Greece, Kosovo, Nigeria, Croatia, and Albania.

IBA Group’s solutions for public transport came under the limelight this month. MasterCard re-certified IBA validators and IBA Fare Collection System became a finalist in the Transport Ticketing Awards.

MasterCard Re-Certifies IBA Validators

MasterCard conducted the initial certification of IBA validators during the COVID-19 pandemic. In October 2020, MasterCard experts from Great Britain conducted a detailed remote analysis of validator production, quality control, and management processes, and prepared their recommendations for improvement.

In late May 2022, the MasterCard International Payment System conducted another TQM compliance audit and re-certified the validators.

IBA Group provides a complete development and production cycle for the validator hardware and software, and the TQM certificate issued by MasterCard confirms the high quality of the public transport terminal manufactured by IBA Group.

New application streamlines contact-free payments for businesses of all sizes

Technology solutions provider IBA Group announces the launch of the tapXphone application for processing contactless payments in retail and other environments. The tapXphone app, available for Android devices, enables individual near-field-communication devices (NFC) to function as Point of Sale devices (POS).

Retailers and other businesses that use the tapXphone app can collect payment from customers who use the following modes of payment: bankcards, credit cards, smartphones, and other wearable NFC devices that include smart watches, bands, and rings.

TapXphone works with Visa, Mastercard, GooglePay, ApplePay, SamsungPay, and others, to create a comfortable, familiar, efficient payment experience for customers. The contactless payment solution is cost effective, especially for small businesses that do not need to invest in the cost of POS hardware.

Further, tapXphone fully complies with the security requirements of Visa and Mastercard international payment systems for transaction safety and customer peace of mind.

In order to meet the needs of contemporary contactless payment expectations, tapXphone accepts payments with PIN-on-Glass, for any amount. PIN-on-Glass technology guarantees the same level of payment security that the traditional POS terminal does, without the cost of additional hardware and maintenance.

IBA Group develops proprietary products like the contactless payment processing solution tapXphone, as well as systems integration. IBA Group is a partner for leading global IT service providers.

How IBA Group Brings Contactless Payment to Metropolitan Transit Systems https://us.ibagroupit.com/insights/how-iba-group-brings-contactless-payment-to-metropolitan-transit-systems/ Mon, 29 Jul 2024 14:21:02 +0000 https://us.ibagroupit.com/insights/how-iba-group-brings-contactless-payment-to-metropolitan-transit-systems/ The post How IBA Group Brings Contactless Payment to Metropolitan Transit Systems appeared first on IBA Group - USA.

For anyone who has taken a train or bus ride in a major city, anywhere in the world, you know how complex a system it can be. From multiple routes, to aging equipment, to safety standards, and overcrowding, transit systems face a variety of complexities, but share one need. They need to get commuters where they are going as quickly and as safely as possible.

When we worked on the transit system in Kazakhstan and in other locations, we shared this same goal. As a result, we provided a range of technology and services around contactless payment processing that enabled cost savings and efficiency, while also prioritizing data privacy.

How IBA Group Works with Transit Systems

Just like transit systems have a diverse array of needs, we provide a variety of technologies and services to meet those needs, all in the context of contactless payment processing.

To get the job done, we have functioned as a system vendor, and as the group responsible for the electronic parts used for public transportation payment collection.

Additionally, we develop both hardware and software. In the software space, our teams both develop the software and set up a processing center that provides the infrastructure to accept payments.

Underscoring the development and provision of software and hardware is a series of certifications and requirements that IBA Group maintains, to protect secure transactions on the side of our clients and our client’s customers.

Why Take the Service Approach?

For projects like contactless payment processing for transportation systems, it is important to go beyond the vendor function and provide the solution as a service.

The fact that we utilize our own independent data center to host solutions benefits our clients and the customers they serve. Dedicated platforms mean easier, more timely maintenance, and a continued commitment to data privacy.

Beyond that, our concept of a service approach extends to providing customer support. We have tools in place to receive and respond to customer questions quickly and accurately. Customers talk to us about the range of problems they are facing. Since we are manufacturer of hardware and software, and we focus on service, we get to bring our expertise to them. And we have built in the flexibility to respond not only to their problems. Because of our service approach, we are also responsive to their new ideas and needs as things change.

Software as a service (SaaS) has the customer, not the technology in mind.

Vadim SmotryaevIBA Group Director of Technical Division

Transportation Systems Perspective on Contactless Payment Processing

Flexibility and service speak to a specific need on the part of the transportation system customer. What we find again and again, is that transportation systems want to optimize the expense of software and hardware investments for contactless payment processing.

That means transportation systems look for more from the provider experience. It also means they want to optimize the opportunities that come with smart cities. And they identify painless contactless payment processing as key to doing so.

By implementing contactless payments, they reduce expenses associated with the old way of collecting payments. In some cases, the transportation systems are located in cities that do not have advanced systems for contactless payment collection. In cases like these, the transportations seek partnerships as a way to optimize investments.

Return on Investment for Contactless Payment

What transportation systems find is that contactless payment processing has a Return on Investment (ROI) that other payment solutions do not. Cash exchange is expensive and involves multiple employees to collect and monitor. In this scenario, switching to contactless removes burdensome costs and time lags.

Additionally, with contactless payment, there are ways to defray costs. Since many banks are involved, sometimes the banks are willing to finance the payment implementation of the system.

So, while there is that soft side impact of a customer relationship in our approach to contactless payment processing, there are also very real cost savings and improvements on the part of our transportation system clients.

Thinking about how contactless payment processing could meet your organization’s complex needs? Schedule a time to discuss it with us.
